Ben’s Tai Chi Transfers training was a total game changer. I learned how to use my own body mechanics through posture, breath, and intentional movement to better support seniors during transfers and while standing. His approach blends safety, mindfulness, and ease in a way that just makes sense. I left the training feeling more confident, grounded, and better equipped to help others move with dignity.
I recommend this to anyone who supports older adults in a hands-on role.
My team and I recently took Ben Couch’s Eastern Ergonomics, Level 1 course, and it was the most amazing experience! Ben has an incredible way of making complex techniques feel logical and easy to understand. I walked away feeling confident about how to use my body more effectively — not just for transfers, but even in everyday movement — without putting my back at risk.
Ben is a natural educator. His years as an adjunct professor and his 20+ years as director of training for Watermark shine through in how clearly, patiently, and genuinely he shares his knowledge. He shared statistics on workplace injuries in healthcare that are staggering — higher than mining, construction, or manufacturing — which really put into perspective how essential this training is.
Although I’m not providing direct, hands-on care every day, I can see just how much value this course brings — and for professional caregivers, the benefits are tremendous. Fewer injuries, more confidence, and safer, smoother transfers that protect everyone involved. Caregiving is hard work, and this course makes one of the tougher parts (physically!) a little bit easier.
We feel so lucky that this level of training is available right here in Tucson. It’s such a gift to have this kind of expertise in our own community!
My name is Miles Coleman EWCH RH AHG. I am a herbalist, I have found Bens work to be of tremendous help with my mother’s aging. Ben has helped me to have great insight into not only the aging process and how it works but to have more patience and grace as well. I recommend his work highly and know you will find it very useful.
I was having trouble with transfering my father from sitting to standing to get him dressed. He is unable to understand and comply, so I am trying to pull him up from the seated position. All I was doing was hurting my back and in turn, he was landing on the floor. After discussing this with Ben, he showed me a much better technique to get my father upright. When I explained it to him, he showed me a much better way to handle my dad, without risk of his falling, me getting hurt, or even worse, me losing balance and both of us landing on the floor. At first it was awkward, and it took some practice. Just last night, I realized that I am actually transfering him the way Ben showed me on our Zoom chat, and it it working out much better for both dad and I. I would be totally lost, and unsure, if it wasnt for Ben and elumenEd!
